Use this tab to narrow a five-letter word list from known positions and included or excluded letters.
Enter known positions
The 5 boxes are the 5 positions in the word. A filled box fixes that letter in that position; an empty box is a wildcard. Repeated letters are allowed.
Example
The pattern C···K can match CLUCK. Leave positions 2, 3, and 4 empty in the form.
Add letter clues
Put letters that must appear somewhere in Also Contains. Put letters that must not appear anywhere in Can't Contain. Fixed-position boxes and these clues are applied together.
Every lookup on this tab is restricted to 5-letter words automatically.
Example
With pattern ···CK, Also Contains SH, and Can't Contain O, SHACK remains while SHOCK is excluded.
